We’re excited to announce that Vantage Credit Union has its first mobile application—now available on Google Android via the Android Marketplace! The app will also be available for the iPhone via the iTues store in the coming weeks (just waiting for the final approval from Apple). Stay tuned for an update.
This new app makes it easy to read Vantage online content on your phone. You’ll be able to view our website, Twitter, and YouTube feeds. And if you find some stories or posts interesting, you'll be able to instantly share them with family or friends via e-mail, Twitter and/or Facebook, right from your phone! It’s one more way to stay in touch with Vantage on the go.
Depending on the response we see to the new Vantage app, we may consider expanding it to include account access/information. So be sure to let us know what you think! (CLICK HERE TO VOTE).
Update (March 29th) We apologize for the delay in the iPhone/iPod application. We are still waiting on Apple's approval and will post more information as soon as we know something.

VCU is way behind the times when it comes to online banking.. the frustrations of account lockouts, password/keyword resets and now a waste of money on an Android app that only reads the VCU website..ugh.
We are very close to moving our banking to a more current technological savvy institution.
The updated MyVantage Online works with most mobile phones, as of 4/13. We have a lot of new products and technologies coming out this year, which I believe could change your mind. As for the mobile applications, they were aimed at making our content easier to read on the iPhone/Android (plus, be a single source for most of our feeds) and have been well received by others. I hope you reconsider moving your banking services to see how our online offering continues to evolve.
Mint.com now shows Vantage credit union as a supported Bank, however the log-in does not work.
Some members have been unsuccessful getting their Mint.com accounts setup. We don't officially support Mint.com, since we are in the process of building a similar system internally. You could try logging in using the Mobile Friendly version of MyVantage, then go back and try re-registering your account with Mint.com again (this has worked for some members).
Thanks.

Are you are making a site that can track both my VCU account, my Commerce Bank account, my wife's VCU account, both of our 401k accounts, our Ameritrade account, our house value, our mortgage, our equity loan, and our two cars values?
Because, if you aren't doing all of that, I would like VCU to actively work to get Mint.com to be able to read my account information and continue to work after a month.
John, the short answer to your question is yes. We’re in the process of building a service internally that will help you track your Vantage accounts as well as outside accounts, provided that, like Mint, the institutions are available for inclusion. Our target date for rolling this out to members is sometime in October, so please stay tuned.
Thanks,
Kathy
Just set it up for my Android. It does work if you log into the mobile site first.
I would love the app for iPhone, but my only real interest in it would be account access. I can't access the log in form from my phone, or even work computers, because you switched to a flash based log in which is not nearly as secure or efficient as a Java Applet or other alternatives.
iPhone doesn't support Flash at this time, and many places disable flash for known security flaws.
What do you plan to do and what kind of time frame are you looking at to help those of us who are more mobile?
We updated the website to support mobile phones last week. Most phones redirect to a new log in page (Looks mostly the same). Read more on my blog here: http://vcu.com/blog/matt/20100414/more-mobile-you-asked-it.
Thanks.
When do you think the website will go live? Will you have an app for managing banking on a blackberry?
New mobile site will be going live tomorrow night (4/13) and yes it works on the Blackberry.
Have Motorola Backflip. I'd like to have the app. Wonder about the security?
Thanks.
We haven't tested it on the Moto Flip. Security is very important and one of the reasons we chose to use a mobile version of our own website.
Still looking forward to that iPhone App, but what about support for Mint.com? With the demise of Microsoft Money, I am looking for a new way to keep track of all my accounts in one place. I like Mint.com and its mobile app, but VCU doesn't seem to be supported. Any news on that front, or is Quicken software now my only option?
We are testing a mobile friendly version of MyVantage Online now. and it will be available soon. As for Mint.com, we don't have any control over who they support. They are purely driven by user demand. Meaning people have to request their financial institution be added (see their help pages). Several members and staff have asked, but we haven't had much luck. That said, I am happy to say we have an alternative on the way that offers much of the same functionality of Money and Mint. I can't give too many details at the moment, but we are hoping to have this new product within the next couple months. Keep an eye on our website for news on this. Thanks.
I am currently a Bank of America customer and my girlfriend has an account with VCU. She recently told me that you guys are developing an app for the iPhone and other smartphones. To be honest, the only reason I'm not with VCU is, you guys don't have a app. I've always thought being part of a Credit Union was an asset to the community and a way to feeling of ownership with your lending institution but in 2010, I need to be able to track my money at all times. So please, hurry with the app process!
We'd love to have you. We'll be posting more information very soon on the new mobile friendly options. Stay tuned.
Quick question, what kind of time table are we lookign at? When you say very soon is that for the app for other smartphones
(not a droid or iphone) and access to a mobile banking web site?
Yes, the mobile friendly version of our current website will be available in about 2-3 weeks. Should work on most Smartphones.
BlackBerry 8330 here please, would love to be able to access my banking information on the go.
I am confused by the posts above... sooo there is a Vantage app now, but only for ONE specific phone? And you CANNOT view account info or pay bills with it??? I just don't see the point of the app if you cannot stay on top of things... I know many other banks already have app's, and bill pay capability for your phone... I also know how much money on a daily basis is taken out of our accts due to human mathmatical error, mistakes we're fined for, all resulting in "HEFTY NSF fee's"... Please put that money to good use... Please make an app that many phones support.
At the moment the VantageCU Reader App is only for keeping up with all of Vantage CU's news sources (VCU.COM, Twitter, and Youtube). It condenses the sources down into one application that makes it easier to read on a mobile device. Any Android based phone can download the application and iPhones/iPods should have an app available in iTunes soon.
We are also working on a mobile friendly version of MyVantage Online Banking that will work on most SmartPhones. Stay tuned for news on this in the weeks ahead.
Hey dont forget about the Blackberry users - we are still a large market segment of smart phone users.
Thanks,
Rich
that is awesome that if you have an android or iphone that there is an app but what about us that have a palm or blackberry? THAT would be great!!
I was so excited when I saw the headline, but was quickly disappointed when I realized the app won't actually let you access any account information. I don't really see the point of having an app unless you can view account balances, perform transfers, and pay bills.
I hope you get enough votes to continue development. It would be a huge asset to members and provide an increased competitive advantage against other financial institutions.
The Quicken iPhone app will get balances from VCU. It's free.
I have just bought a android phone just incase you allow us thw oppertunity to acsess my info on the go.
I agree, need mobile acct access for a variety of phones inc Blackberry
We have gotten a lot of good feedback. It's likely we are going to continue development on a mobile application that does allow account information.
Thanks.
how about adding it to our blackberry
There are no specific Blackberry application plans at the moment. We are looking into alternative web-based views that would work on Blackberry phones.
