Guidelines for Vantage Community Comments

Vantage Credit Union wants to foster a spirit of conversation and interaction between the credit union and our members. At the same time, we can’t have objectionable material on the site. So in the spirit of that free exchange of ideas, we ask that you keep the conversation clean, constructive and on-topic.

That being said, please note: moderators of story and blog comments have the right to edit, delete or close any comment at any time without notice. If a conversation becomes a personal attack…if it includes sensitive information or details about a situation that shouldn’t be discussed publicly…if you use our site to spam or solicit…your comments will not be posted. Use common sense and good judgment, and you’ll be fine.

Official rules of the game:

  • Open discussions of varying points of view are encouraged but only if they remain constructive and not inflammatory. Just follow the Golden Rule. Messages containing intentionally misleading or false information, defamatory content, threats, verbal abuse, rants, harassment, obscenity or personal information about other individuals are not allowed and won’t be posted, and neither will nicknames, signatures or avatars that are vulgar or inappropriate in any way.

  • Comments should be brief and stick to either common-knowledge information or the information contained in an article or blog.

  • If your item doesn't get posted or is deleted, tone it down a bit and try again. If it still doesn’t get posted or remains deleted and you want to know why, please e-mail us at comments@vcu.com. Please take note that some comments may post faster than others depending on what time and day of the week they're submitted (moderators have roles in and outside the credit union that may keep them from reviewing comments as quickly as they're posted).

  • Keep your posts commercial-free: Advertisements, chain letters, solicitations, personal or private vendettas or causes, political debates, etc., are unacceptable.

  • Don’t spam. Spamming includes multiple disruptive, meaningless or repetitive messages, or messages posted solely for solicitation. Messages considered spam (as determined by moderators) won’t be posted.

  • Don’t post entire articles into comments or discussions. It’s unnecessary and results in needlessly long posts. Plus, it may be a potential violation of copyright laws. Instead, post a brief summary of the material and a link to the complete source. If you’re not sure how much of an article you can legally post, please simply post a link to the material.

In case some prefer a list in more legalese that further clarifies our stance on your participation in Vantage blogs and forums:

  • You agree not to hold Vantage Credit Union or its members liable for anything stated within the Vantage site. Comments posted at this site are the sole opinion and responsibility of the poster. Vantage Credit Union makes no claims, promises or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness or adequacy of the information contained within our forums.

  • Vantage Credit Union reserves the right to monitor communications that occur on our site. Moderator action may be final, or actions may be reversed by a moderator after review of the matter. If you have a question about any action, please e-mail comments@vcu.com. All private discussions with moderators related to forum policy/actions may be shared with other moderators if necessary.

  • It is your responsibility to be familiar and remain updated to Vantage Credit Union’s current commenting guidelines. All site participants must comply with these guidelines.

Thank you for your cooperation and interest in keeping communications on our site clean, relevant, constructive and enlightening!
